Citenook

For lawyers

Find the clause, with the page to prove it

Citenook is a private Mac app that answers questions from your contracts, case files and notes, and shows the exact clause and page each answer came from. With a model on your Mac, client files never leave it.

The problem

"Which version did we sign? Where's the termination clause? What did opposing counsel's letter say about the deadline?" The answer is in the file somewhere, and finding it means opening document after document. General chatbots want the files uploaded, and they don't show where an answer came from.

What is the notice period for termination in the Blue Harbor supply agreement?

Client confidentiality

Most private

Use Apple Intelligence or a model on your Mac. Your files, questions and answers stay on your Mac, even with Wi-Fi off.

With an online AI

Only the question and the passages picked for that answer are sent, with your own key. File and brain names are never sent.

Names hidden

Names, emails, phone and ID numbers are replaced before anything is sent, and "Preview before sending" shows exactly what goes.

Your rules apply

Citenook doesn't make you compliant with your professional rules on its own. Check them, and your client agreements, before using any online AI.

A setup that works

  1. 1

    One brain per matter

Keep each client or matter apart, so answers never mix them up. Group brains by client or practice area.

  2. 2

    Add the matter folder

Citenook keeps it up to date as new drafts and letters arrive.

  3. 3

    Pin the key documents

Open the signed agreement from an answer and choose Always Include in Answers.

  4. 4

    Pick the model per chat

A model on your Mac for confidential matters; your own online key, with names hidden, for long analysis.

Questions

Is it safe to use Citenook with privileged documents?

With a model on your Mac, nothing leaves your Mac, so privileged files are handled like any other file on it. With an online AI, the question and selected passages go to that service under your own account and its terms, so decide matter by matter.

Does Citenook give legal advice?

No. It finds what your documents say and shows you where. You check the source and make the call.

Can it compare two versions of a contract?

Yes. Ask it to compare a clause across the draft and the signed version, and each point links to the passage in its file.

Does it work with scanned contracts?

Yes. Scanned PDFs are read with your Mac's text recognition. Check important answers against the page, especially for faint or handwritten text.
